NLE The Musical is a Disney-inspired production crafted entirely on-site at Naturally Light Equitation, bringing the day-to-day life of an equestrian yard to the screen with humour, heart, and over-the-top musical flair. Featuring adapted songs from classic Walt Disney films, this project reimagines the bonds between horse lovers in a competition for a grand £10,000 prize.
About the Film
As writer, director, editor, and even an on-screen performer, I took on multiple roles to bring NLE The Musical to life. The film was shot entirely on location at Naturally Light Equitation, using the yard and its residents as the perfect backdrop for a story filled with joy, competition, and camaraderie. From designing shots to choreographing scenes with real-life liveries and horses, the production was a true labour of love, blending live-action performances with some creative visual effects.
Synopsis
While Andy prepares for the first-ever NLE Games, Shane dreams of a life beyond the yard. Meanwhile, the liveries become fiercely competitive, doing whatever it takes to win the £10,000 prize. From heartfelt moments to hilarious rivalries, this musical captures the spirit of the yard in an unforgettable way.
Behind the Scenes
NLE The Musical brought together a community of talented individuals, from equestrian enthusiasts to budding actors, who collaborated to create a truly unique film. With a mix of live-action performances and adapted Disney songs, the project required meticulous editing, choreography, and sound design to achieve its whimsical, larger-than-life feel.
